#3: How about something nice?
AI can do a lot these days, but sometimes the old-fashioned way is smarter.
Welcome to the third episode of Toolness and thank you for watching! In the past weeks many of the first subscribers have asked me: “What is Toolness for? What do I actually need it for?” I thought it would speak for itself but it might not be clear at first. So if you have any questions or suggestions, please write to me at j@toolness.co! And now off to some fun and enjoyable tools for this week!
#1 Remini AI creates “better” portraits of your selfies. First week is free, after that it’s 9,99/we. I guess, I just need hair now… How about you?
#2 Maibrain uses AI to conserve the voices and ideas of (deceased) personalities like Fidel Castro or Diego Maradona. While the tones sound accurate, the Amy Winehouse AI is talking about her, not being her. Fidel Castro works as planned!
#3 Walkcast creates Podcasts for you on the go, based on where you are. Is it AI? We really don’t know. Does it matter? Actually no, the idea is fun!
#4 Routeshuffle is Walkcast’s perfect companion: It creates a random route for you to walk, run or cycle at a place you’re at:
#5 Payload just released an app for Windows, Mac and Linux that lets you send files directly to other people’s devices without the use of the cloud. It’s free for 50 GB/mo and the people behind it ask if they should release an app for iPhone and Android next. Ye-hes, please!
#6 Abridge might not help you directly but it can help your doctor with their paperwork so they might have more time to consult you in the future (hopefully):
#7 TinyPod: The return of the iPod as a cheap but smart Apple Watch case (79 USD). Reviews are mixed, though, as it mechanically turns the watches’ crown for you. And the use of near-Apple logos and design... Nice déjà-vu though!
That’s it already for this week’s worthy 7. Know a tool I’ve missed? Please send me the link to cools@toolness.co. Like what you see? Please spread the word and subscribe – if you haven’t already. Would you like to advertise in one of the next episodes? Please send me a note to ads@toolness.co.
