#5: Creating Videos with AI
OpenAI is late to the party of AI video creation. There are plenty of similar tools around already. Here is just a tiny glimpse of Sora and some of its competitors.
#1 Sora by ChatGPT-owner OpenAI is as easy as text to video. Write a prompt, add some preferences like 16:9-ratio and have your video created. So far, Sora is limited to paid subscribers and US users:
#2 Pollo is just one of the many Sora competitors. And some of these competitors’ tools are reportedly more advanced than the one of the latest competitor OpenAI:
#3 Zebracat is text to video creation aimed to fill social media. Handling seems easy – but she doesn’t look very real, does she? ;)
#4 Submagic’s Magic Clips is a similar tool that focuses on auto video editing. Have AI take an excerpt of a long video that it “thinks” is important, just pick one and use it for your social video account:
#5 Copilot Vision is Microsoft’s solution for people who rather talk to the web than browse it. It lets you ask questions like “where to go at the zoo to with my 5-year old niece” instead of searching for it on the site yourself:
#6 After Inc. is the follow-up to mobile game Plague Inc., one of the most black comedy games I’ve ever played (you too)? After a virus has eradicated most of the world’s population, you’re supposed to rebuild it:
#7 Genki Moonbase is actually nothing but a turbocharger for your most important gadgets. But it combines a fun-friendly design with a 240W-GaN charging system that brings a lot of power to your laptop, phone, earplugs and so on. Currently on Indiegogo for a discount of 88 USD:
The downside of AI video creation at this point is actually not its unoriginality. Videos look good and nobody is expecting an exciting plot. It can help out with good-looking b-roll material, though it cannot create blockbusters (yet). The downside so far are these video creator tools’ strong limitations concerning pricing, availability or length of use. Some just let you create a few seconds of video if they’re functional at all.
And that’s it again for this week. Thank you for watching! If you like my little weekly collection, please spread the word and subscribe – if you haven’t already. Know a tool I’ve missed? Please write to me to cools@toolness.co. Like your project to be tool of the week in one of the upcoming episodes for a very small price? Please send me a note to ads@toolness.co! Hope to see you in the next one.
